The Issue
While agricultural production is crucial to Uganda's economy, many small-scale female farmers face challenges in selling their crops at fair and stable prices. The lack of structured value chains, reliable distribution channels, and tailored financial mechanisms limits their ability to profit from their labor.
Female farmers struggle with transforming and marketing their products, leaving them exposed to market fluctuations and dependent on intermediaries who purchase their crops at very low prices. Moreover, without access to financing and proper infrastructure, they find it difficult to invest in solutions that could enhance the profitability of their farms.
The Market Access & Sustainability Project aims to address these challenges by facilitating access to markets, promoting the transformation of agricultural products, and implementing tailored financial solutions to ensure sustainable growth.
