The Issue

The Small-scale female farmers in Uganda face structural challenges that limit their productivity and economic independence. The lack of in-depth agricultural training, poor financial management skills, and the absence of structured female leadership make it difficult for them to adopt sustainable practices and maximize market opportunities.

Many women farm without access to modern techniques, resulting in low yields and high post-harvest losses. Additionally, the lack of training in financial management and entrepreneurship prevents these women from stabilizing their incomes and repaying their loans effectively. Finally, the shortage of locally trained female leaders reduces the capacity of agricultural communities to innovate and advocate for their interests.

The Resilient Women Farmers Program aims to address these challenges by combining agricultural training, financial education, and leadership development to create a network of empowered and resilient female farmers.
