The Issue

In Uganda, small-scale women farmers represent a significant portion of the agricultural workforce but face several major challenges. Limited access to quality seeds and agricultural inputs is one of the main obstacles, as many farmers cannot afford improved seeds, fertilizers, or pesticides necessary for efficient production. Additionally, they often lack training in good agricultural practices, leading to low yields and significant post-harvest losses. Access to financing remains a critical issue, as traditional financial institutions require guarantees that rural women cannot provide. This combination of factors results in low productivity, food insecurity, and ongoing economic hardship for these rural communities. This is where the Seed & Grow Project comes in, providing quality seeds and agricultural inputs through a structured loan model, aimed at improving productivity and strengthening the economic independence of women farmers
